Blogs, groups, and magazine articles now support 10 photos!

Happy to report that we have now updated the blogs, groups, and magazine articles to support up to 10 photo uploads. This is part of our ongoing push to upgrade all the community sections. This update also fixes the issues related to changes to the uploaded photos not showing up immediately.

We will update magazine advice lines next to support photos. I'm happy to get your ideas on other ways to improve the community sections. Some of ones we are considering are adding optional photos to polls and embedding videos in the posts.

Best suggestion I can think of to improve the Community spirit hereabouts would be to make the current bland blog front page more dynamic and appealing by substituting the popularity lists for a list of trending posts? It would surely rotate the bloggers appearing on the front page and open up the community to less well known and read writers?

The efforts you're all making to improve things so far are very much appreciated, though I have to confess that it's sometimes easy to lose sight of that in the face of so many glitches that seem to arise when you change things a little.

There are currently 2 versions of the main blog page... one I did years ago and one that was done when I wasn't here. You can toggle between them... but I do agree that we can do better to make them more dynamic (e.g., show posts when they go live dynamically w/o loading page).

Agreed that we have to be careful to not break things!

i agree with lindo. at minimum, rotate the bloggers at the top of the page in the "Some Actively Watched Blogs" spot. i'm tired of looking at the same 7 or 8 chicks. i'd like to see other bloggers show up there again...like it was years ago. maybe even some popular guys...???

Yah, I changed the algorithm a few weeks ago... but I can make it more random so we get a wider range of people there.

Andrew replies on 1/27/2014 1:12 pm:
The 3 photos are now 20x more random than before... thanks for reminding me.

I would like to see you add the capability to post a photo with polls. Just seems like a no-brainer.

We could all benefit from a site wide or "global" block feature. If you add someone to your blocked list they ... in essence ... disappear from the site. Not only can they not contact you ... none of their blog or magazine posts ... profiles ... cams ... chats ... etc etc are viewable. You guys do it in chat rooms. Please extend it site wide.

I believe there is already a global block... from their profile page, right?

Let me use the following example to try and make this clearer.

Say I want to block BigDick45. As it is now I can block BigDick45 from interacting with me. And that's fine ... but .... "I" can still see every post BigDick45 posts in the blogs and whenever BigDick45 posts a topic on the main blog page. What I am asking for ... and others have asked too ... is if I block BigDick45 I don't see anything .... nothing .... zip .... zero .... nada BigDick45 does on this site.

It is like the ignore function that is used in the chatrooms where when you "ignore" a person their posts in the chatroom don't show up.

Does that make it clearer?

ALVINBOOTH There is already something in place for this. Go to your "My Stuff" and click on "Privacy preferences". When that page comes up click on "Blocked Members list". When that comes up enter the handle of the person you want blocked and click the box all the way on the RIGHT, it says "View My Profile". When you click that one it will block absolutely everything from them and you should no longer see their posts on things either. I will send this to you via email as well.

I guess I'm not explaining it right. I am aware of the "Privacy Preferences" but it doesn't block my view of them.

Let me try another example:

When I pull up the "Recent Posts" page on the blogs I see.

Blogger A
Blogger B
Blogger C
Etc.
Etc.

I go to the "Privacy Preferences" and block Blogger B. The next time I pull up the "Recent Posts" page I now see.

Blogger A
Blogger C
Etc.
Etc.

Blogger B is now invisible / ignored.
